Appointments

Our 15 minute consultations are by appointment only, in order to keep waiting times to a minimum, although any emergency will always be attended to immediately. Fully computerised records provide easily accessible, accurate and confidential patient details.

Call us on 01603 783920 to book an appointment.

Prescriptions

These may be requested by telephone (01603 783920), online or in person. Due to all the paperwork and checks required in dispensing drugs, we request at least two working days notice. Please note that the law requires regular check ups by the vet of any pet on medication. We are unable to refund any dispensed medications.

House Calls

We strongly discourage home visits due to lack of facilities, equipment and trained help when required. We are able to provide a much better service at the surgery. If transport is a problem our reception staff can provide you with the number of an animal friendly taxi which is the best option and far more beneficial to your pet.

Euthanasia

When the time comes to decide whether the quality of your much-loved pet has deteriorated to the extent that euthanasia is the kindest option, we will always do our best to accommodate your personal wishes. If you request a house call for euthanasia, we will try to arrange an appropriate time to visit; although please bear in mind that it is considerably more expensive. A separate leaflet is available at reception with further information.

Pet Insurance

Due to the increasing sophistication of investigation and treatment of conditions in animals we recommend pet insurance. When claiming for treatment, please keep all invoices relating to your claim. We require 7 – 14 days to fill in our part of the claim. There is a small fee for this service. We regret that we are generally unable to accept payment direct from insurance companies.

Emergencies

In the case of an emergency, we recommend that you ring the surgery wherever possible so that we may prepare for your arrival and deal with the emergency quickly and efficiently.

Emergencies outside working hours are covered by NORWICH NIGHT VET, Fir Covert Road, Taverham.
Tel: 01603 867330. Their dedicated emergency team provides a genuine A&E service for pets with a veterinary nurse and surgeon on site at all times. All calls are answered and dealt with directly which ensures delays are kept to a minimum. Emergencies can be demanding and complex, making house calls impractical and time wasting so you will be asked to take your pet directly to the hospital. Please be aware that all fees incurred at the night clinic must be paid for at the time of treatment. Norwich Night Vet emergency consultation charges start from £145 for dogs and cats, and from £100 for rabbits.

In times of emergencies pet insurance is invaluable so again we would strongly recommend good quality insurance.

We continually review our facilities, equipment and training in order to implement a policy of continuous quality improvement.

Fees

Payment in full is due and required at time of consultation/treatment. We accept cash, credit cards and debit cards. This policy allows us to keep administration costs to a minimum and avoids unnecessary surcharges for issue of accounts.
